Early Friday morning in Iowa City, a 26-year-old Cedar Rapids woman was arrested after she was accused of driving under the influence, and refusing to let passengers out of her vehicle.
According to the two male passengers, the woman offered them a ride in her minivan to their desired destination. The men got into the motor vehicle, and were prepared to exit when they arrived at their destination. Discrepancies regarding the payment for the ride arose, and the driver drove off with the men still inside her vehicle.
The passengers became frightened and call Iowa City police, claiming that they were being held against their will. They felt that their only option was to jump from the vehicle before the driver turned onto Interstate 80. Police were able to locate the woman, who was driving west on I-80, and successfully pulled her over.
Police noted that the woman was intoxicated, and also smelled of marijuana. She was arrested, and held on a $6,000 cash-only bond.
