Emergency personnel took her to the Mercy Medical Center in North Iowa so that she could be treated for severe head trauma. She was listed in critical condition throughout the entire day, and then that night she succumbed to her injuries. The Clear Lake police department launched an investigation into the accident, but no charges have been handed out in the case at this time.

According to Iowa Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as the men stepped out of a vehicle that was on the parked on the right shoulder. He stepped into the northbound lane of oncoming traffic and was struck by a semi-truck.

Police officials found the two students laying in the street unconscious and they were rushed to the UI Hospital. The19-year-old male student was released while the 19-year-old female student remains in the hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Authorities report that a Davenport woman was killed in East Moline in a car-pedestrian accident Saturday, May 15, around midnight.
The woman was crossing Avenue of the Cities at a location without a crosswalk or traffic lights when she tripped and fell to the road. Oncoming traffic was unable to stop and the woman was also unable to move out of the way.
The woman suffered severe injuries to her chest, neck, and head, and died at the scene.
