Reckless driver has long list of prior charges

The 46-year-old Norwalk man responsible for the Ankeny reckless driving crash that left two children dead and their mother and another child in critical condition has a litany of previous traffic violation charges, according to court records.

Previous charges include speeding, reckless driving, failure to maintain control, and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

The man was driving his pickup truck when he failed to stop for a stop sign and slammed into the minivan containing a mother and her three kids at Southeast Tone’s Drive and Southeast Creekview Drive, say police.

The mother and her children were all take to area hospitals, where the 5 year old and 5 month old children died in medical care. A 3-year-old child and the mother remain in critical condition.

The man was injured but is expected to recover fully. Charges are pending.



One-car crash claims life of elderly woman

The Adair County Sheriff’s office has released information regarding a one-car crash that claimed the life of a 72 year-old woman.

While driving along a rural road, the woman’s Ford F-150 veered into a ditch and struck an embankment, causing it to roll several times before coming to a stop.

Following the accident, the woman was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, where she subsequently succumbed to her injuries.
