A 73-year-old pedestrian has passed away after she was hit by an oncoming motor vehicle in Clear Lake last Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of Main Avenue and Fourth Street.
The woman was crossing the street when her body made contact with a southbound pick-up truck. An 87-year-old Clear Lake man was behind the wheel at the time of the accident. Several people were attempting to help the injured women, who sustained serious head trauma. She was transported by ambulance to a Clear Lake hospital as soon as paramedics arrived. She died one day later.
Police are planning on recreating the scene of the pedestrian accident in order to determine if a crime took place. As of now, the driver of the truck has not been charged in the incident.
A 56-year-old Fredericksburg man has died after being struck by a motor vehicle while walking on a road.
The pedestrian accident happened in Fredericksburg, Iowa when a 17-year-old female driver, who was traveling east, lost control of her vehicle and switched direction, colliding with the pedestrian on the road.
The paramedics that arrived on the scene determined that the pedestrian had died from his injuries. Both the identities of the people involved were being withheld until all people concerned could be notified.
The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.

An Iowa City man was killed in a pedestrian accident after he was struck by a semi-truck on Interstate 380.
According to Iowa Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as the men stepped out of a vehicle that was on the parked on the right shoulder. He stepped into the northbound lane of oncoming traffic and was struck by a semi-truck.
The driver of the truck was uninjured and stated that he tried to brake and swerve to avoid the man, but was unable to. The pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after he was struck. Police are currently investigating at this time.

The 52-year-old man was crossing West 3rd Street at 12:23 p.m. while delivering mail to his mail route when he was struck.
The man was flown the University Hospitals in Iowa City after the accident. His injuries were said the be life-threatening at the time. The accident is still under investigation by the Davenport Police Crash Investigation Unit.

A male and female student were struck by a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old woman On August 27.
The accident occurred as the two students were crossing College Street and Governor Street around midnight. The students were crossing the street legally because pedestrians have the right of way in this area.
Police officials found the two students laying in the street unconscious and they were rushed to the UI Hospital. The19-year-old male student was released while the 19-year-old female student remains in the hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Authorities have identified a man that was killed in pedestrian accident on Interstate 380 over the weekend.
The man was 44 years old and was from Cedar Rapids. The accident occurred around 1 a.m. on August 14 when the man was crossing the interstate for unknown reasons.
He was struck by more than one vehicle, but all of them stopped to help police officials with the investigation. No citations were given after the accident, but police are continuing to investigate.
