Fewer license revocations in Iowa despite drunk driving death increase

Iowa has faced an increase in deaths caused by drunk drivers, but the number of drivers who have their licenses revoked is trending downwards.

A spokesperson for the Mason City Crime Prevention team noted that people often suffer impaired abilities behind the wheel even when their blood alcohol level is under the legal limit of .08 percent. Compared to the 110 DUI deaths recorded in 2014, there were 123 deaths recorded last year, but driver’s license revocation numbers reportedly fell by hundreds. Vehicle drivers should always designate a sober driver if they are expected to drink any amount of alcohol.
