GM recalled over 59k Saturn Aura sedans with transmission defect
Car maker General Motors Co. (GM) is recalling more than 59,000 previous models of mid-sized sedans due to a possible transmission issue that may endanger its occupants, Reuters reported on May 6.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) there were 59,628 Saturn Aura sedans from 2007 to 2008 that were affected by the possibility of a transmission cable break. Drivers and occupants of the recalled sedans may sustain injuries if their vehicles unexpectedly move due to an inability to shift into park or turn the ignition key. At least 28 accidents and four people were reportedly injured due to the recalled cars in the past several years. To address the issue, GM will replace the defective parts in the transmission system of the recalled cars.
