Automaker to recall more than 600,000 vehicles due to safety problems

After Chrysler Group agreed to recall 1.56 million vehicles at the request of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, another 666,735 are set to be recalled by the company due to safety issues.

Some 442,481 Chrysler vehicles were affected by a faulty micro-controller device that helps to minimize whiplash injuries during rear crash accidents. Another 224,254 caravans and minivans, on the other hand, are affected by an electrical polarity problem that can cause the wrong side airbags to deploy in side crash accidents.

Starting next month, Chrysler dealers will repair the recalled vehicles for free.
