Fatal Des Moines car crash hearing set for May 8
A new court date was set for Yichun Xu. The Chinese student is facing a trial based on a charge of vehicular manslaughter, a King County prosecutor spokesman said.
Prosecutors were worried that Xu would fly to China to escape the manslaughter charges. But according to spokesman Dan Donohoe, Xu had a meeting with prosecutors and is now scheduled to appear back in court on May 8. Xu first appeared in court on April 10 after his family posted $2 million bail early in March.
Xu is facing vehicular manslaughter charges after running a stop sign and crashing into the car in which Brenda Gomez-Zapata and family members were riding.
Tragically, reckless driving, such as that which Xu committed, causes innocent people to lose their lives and suffer injuries. Speak with the legal team at , about what you can do after you and/or your family has been involved in such a situation.
