Des Moines officer runs over pedestrian

A pedestrian accident in Des Moines is being investigated after a Des Moines police officer ran over a woman’s legs early Tuesday morning near 10th Street and Stone Lane.

The officer was in the area because he was responding to a call regarding a woman lying in the middle of an alley. As he approached the alley, he was unable to see the woman due to the darkness, and his patrol vehicle inched over her protruding legs.

The woman received minor cuts and bruises from the incident, and was transported to Mercy Medical Center. She was also determined to be drunk at the time of the accident. Police are investigating the incident at this time.
