One killed in two-vehicle crash

According to police, two vehicles smashed into one another head-on on U.S. Highway 63 around 6 p.m. Monday evening. The Iowa State Patrol says a 35-year-old New Hampton man was headed northbound on the highway when he swerved across the center line, colliding with a southbound truck driven by a 29-year-old man from Viroqua, Wisconsin.

The 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency personnel arrived. Authorities say that the other man was uninjured.

Police think that drugs or alcohol may have been involved in the crash, and an investigation is ongoing.
