Woman killed Sunday in two-motorcycle-crash
Police have identified a woman killed Sunday in a two-motorcycle accident as a 26-year-old Des Moines resident. She was riding as a passenger on her 35-year-old husband’s motorcycle when the crash occurred.
Their motorcycle crashed into the back of another motorcycle being driven by a 55-year-old Altoona man around 6:25 p.m. near the 400 block of East 30th Street. The 55-year-old man was uninjured but the woman was thrown from the couple’s motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband was transported to Mercy Medical Center with a broken leg.
None of the riders were wearing helmets. Police are still determining whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.
