The two women were in a vehicle with a 60-year-old man who was identified as the mother’s husband. They were driving on Interstate 80 when their SUV crossed over lanes of traffic and went through two bridges near Middle River. Their vehicle hit several rocks, which caused the car to flip onto it’s roof and become submerged in water. Both women were declared to have died at the scene of the accident.

The woman’s husband suffered minor injuries during the accident and was transported to a Des Moines hospital to be treated. Police are still looking into potential causes of this tragic car accident.

The pedestrian, an 80-year-old man, passed away eight days after he was struck by a motor vehicle. He was walking near the intersection of Ingersoll Avenue and 35th Street when a car collided with him. The car was driven by an 18-year-old female from Des Moines, who claims that the sun was too strong to see the man.

At the time of the accident, the man was still conscious and was able to talk to police. He had forgotten the previous events and was taken to a hospital to be treated. The injuries he suffered from led to his death eight days later.

The accident happened in Marshalltown, Iowa around 5 p.m. on Friday night. A 46-year-old Des Moines man failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a vehicle being driven by a 58-year-old Marshalltown woman. The young boy was the woman’s grandson and he was a passenger in her vehicle.

The boy’s grandmother passed away at the scene of the accident and the Des Moines man was taken to a local hospital in the area where he died shortly later.

The accident occurred when the student, a former hockey player, was merging lanes on I-94 when he hit another vehicle causing that vehicle to spin. The student chose to help the individual he hit by getting out of his car and walking over to the other stopped vehicle.

The annual tree lighting took place Friday night with the assistance of Santa Claus. The lighting occured at the Big Catch Plaza and numerous residents were there to watch the festivities. Santa arrived in a sleigh being pulled by Harley Davidson motorcycles and helped with the lighting of the tree.

Garth Beatty, 70, of Vinton, IA, was driving a pickup truck with a trailer attached in the southbound lanes of Highway 63 when he hit Pink’s car as he was crossing the highway.

According to police, Beatty’s pickup flipped and both cars ended up in a nearby ditch.  Beatty was rushed to a nearby Waterloo hospital.
