A couple that had been married for 72 years died holding hands in the hospital after being involved in a car accident.

The car accident took place in the town of State Center, Iowa. The husband, 94, and wife, 90, both suffered serious injuries and were taken to the emergency room. They were separated in the beginning when they were being tended to, but eventually ended up in intensive care together.

The couple did everything together and even during their agony continued to ask about the progress of one another while they were separated. Their children were there at the hospital and watched the two join hands when they knew their time was coming to an end. They died exactly one hour apart from one another, still holding hands.

Our thought and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victims during this difficult time.
