Drunk driving and sleep-deprived driving cause accidents

Posted on June 6th, 2012 No Comments

A recent study suggests that those who get behind the wheel after not getting enough sleep are more likely to cause car accidents than those who are not sleep-deprived.

The study involved researchers gathering data from roughly 700 individuals who were injured in car accidents that put them in a hospital for more than 24 hours. More than half of the people who resided in these hospital beds were responsible for the car accidents.

Drunk drivers and tired drivers were both more likely to cause severe car accidents than those who were not intoxicated or tired while operating a motor vehicle.  The findings of the study were published in a medical journal.
