On April 3 in Clear Lake, Iowa, a pedestrian accident took the life of a 73-year-old woman. The woman was crossing the street just before 9:30 a.m. in the morning, when she was hit by an oncoming truck, driven by an 87-year-old Clear Lake man.

The man was southbound when his vehicle struck the woman in the intersection of Main Street and Fourth Street. The impact of the collision caused the woman to suffer serious injuries. She was found with bystanders around her in the middle of the street.

Emergency personnel took her to the Mercy Medical Center in North Iowa so that she could be treated for severe head trauma. She was listed in critical condition throughout the entire day, and then that night she succumbed to her injuries. The Clear Lake police department launched an investigation into the accident, but no charges have been handed out in the case at this time.
