Two students struck in UI pedestrian accident

A male and female student were struck by a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old woman On August 27.

The accident occurred as the two students were crossing College Street and Governor Street around midnight. The students were crossing the street legally because pedestrians have the right of way in this area.

Police officials found the two students laying in the street unconscious and they were rushed to the UI Hospital. The19-year-old male student was released while the 19-year-old female student remains in the hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Pedestrian accidents can cause serious injuries to people involved, our thoughts are with both victims during their recovery.
